STAT Testing
Some tests are eligible for expedited results. Please carefully read the instructions below on how to submit a STAT sample.
What Tests Can I Expedite?
If your desired test is not on this list, please contact the laboratory directly to see if STAT testing can be arranged. Each lab's contact information is available on its webpage.
How to Submit a STAT Sample
To ensure prompt turnaround time on STAT submissions, submitters MUST follow the instructions below.
- Write "STAT" clearly on the submission form.
- For hand-delivered samples
- It is helpful to verbally notify the technician at the receiving window that your sample is STAT priority.
- For shipped samples
- Write large X's in black marker on all sides of the shipping box.
- Email STATalert@cornell.edu before 7 a.m. EST with the tracking number, test name, if it's for export or regulatory purposes, patient information and account number within the body of the email, or attach a copy of the submission form.
- Timing
- Both the sample and test request must be received by 11:30 a.m. EST on the day of testing. This may require the use of Priority Overnight (FedEx) or Next Day Early (UPS) shipping services.
For cortisol and canine progesterone Immulite tests: A STAT request is only required if the sample arrives after 2 p.m. EST.
