The AHDC Canine and Feline Respiratory PCR Panels now test for Streptococcus equi subsp. zooepidemicus ("Strep zoo") at no extra cost. This bacterium can cause neurological symptoms and meningitis in densely housed cats, and severe, fast-spreading hemorrhagic pneumonia in dogs. The turnaround time for both panels is 2-3 days and same day test results are possible with an additional STAT fee.
