Dr. Putnam is a 2003 graduate of The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine. After 6 years of private practice in NY State, she relocated to Austin, TX and joined Emancipet, which is a non-profit spay, neuter and wellness clinic. Her work, while at Emancipet, closely connected with over 12 central Texas shelters, which ultimately exposed and inspired her towards shelter medicine and animal welfare issues. Her special interests include enrichment programs for shelter animals, disease prevention and high volume spay/neuter. Dr. Putnam is thrilled to be a part of the Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program at Cornell and hopes to inform students about the unique challenges shelters face, and encourage them to support their local shelters after graduation no matter what avenue of veterinary medicine they follow. Outside of work, Dr. Putnam enjoys spending quality time with her husband, two daughters, 4 cats and 3 dogs.
