Martin F. Scheinman, Esq. ‘75 and ‘76 from Queens, New York, graduated from Cornell ILR and pursued a career in the field as a full time Arbitrator and Mediator of labor, employment, business and consumer disputes. Having handled over 20,000 disputes throughout the United States, amongst his current assignments is serving as the Arbitrator between Major League Baseball and the Players Association and the National Hockey League and the NHLPA. Marty has individually and with partners owned and bred thoroughbred horses since the 1970s having campaigned over a dozen Graded stakes winners including three-time Grade 1 winner Yankee Affair and four-time Grade 1 winner Goodnight Olive (trained by Cornellian Chad Brown), the 2022 and 2023 Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Sprint Champion. Goodnight Olive was also named the Eclipse Award winner as the Champion Female Sprinter for both 2022 and 2023 and a 2022 and 2023 finalist for Champion Older Dirt Female. Scheinman also served as one of two thoroughbred owners on the Taskforce on Retired Race Horses commissioned by New York State.
