Title: Virus-Like Particles as a Means to Evaluate FCoV-23 Cell Tropism & Entry Pathways and Spike Antigenicity
Project Amount: $101,285
Project Period: July 2024 to June 2025

DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant):

This project will analyze the FCoV-23 spike protein, and FcoV-23 infection, cell tropism and molecular pathogenesis—through the use of spike-expressing pseudoparticles and other virus-like particles, and expressed spike proteins and peptides. We will screen a range of cell types for infection and antibody dependent enhancement of infection and develop and characterize new tool and monoclonal antibody-based reagents that can be applied to clinical and molecular diagnostics for FCoV-23 and associated feline coronaviruses. Work will be highly integrative with the other team members, including a defined scope of work in association with the virology group in Edinburgh.
