Title: Ultra-Rapid Point-of-Care Molecular Diagnostics for Identifying Viruses and Viral Variants Using Tethered Enzyme Technology
Project Amount: $350,983
Project Period: September 2023 to August 2025

DESCRIPTION (provided by applicant):

TETmedical seeks to address an unmet need for rapid and highly sensitive point-of-care (PoC) test for ultra-rapid detection of SARS-CoV-2 and its variants. This novel testing platform is based on tethered enzyme technology (TET), originating from the Drs. Travis and Cohen’ research.

In order to advance the development and commercialization of the TET:Dx-Virus technology, in this project, we will: 1) optimize the TET:Dx-Virus assay for use with saliva or nasal swab samples, 2) modify the multi-well based lab assay into a cartridge based PoC test, 3) develop and optimize the TET-XTRCT enzymatic reaction that enables release of the viral RNA from the capsid. This will enhance the public health impact and commercial value of TET:Dx-Virus as a true PoC diagnostic.
