The Wildlife Health Program (WHP) addresses the pressing need for detection and management of wildlife diseases in New York, including those that can affect humans and domestic animals. The WHP links the DEC with the New York State Departments of Health, Agriculture & Markets, and other animal health professionals as partners under the aegis of the One Health concept where human health, animal health and the health of the ecosystem are addressed together in a statewide wildlife health program.
