Horses and Donkeys
Programs and services offered for horses and donkeys include: annual vaccinations; parasite monitoring by fecal flotation; dental care (teeth floating); equine infectious anemia testing (Coggins test); prepurchase examinations; pregnancy diagnosis; new foal examinations; and field castrations when the animal is not a cryptorchid. Interstate health papers are provided for horses that travel. Diagnosis and treatment of sick or injured horses and donkeys includes: lameness evaluation and treatment; field radiographs; wound repair; and primary colic care with referral to the Cornell Hospital for Animals if surgery is indicated.
