Dairy Cattle
Reproductive evaluations (including pregnancy and fertility examinations), nutritional evaluations, and disease prevention are stressed. Herd health programs also include vaccinations, parasite control, mastitis prevention, and routine procedures such as castration and dehorning. Health certificates and fair forms are provided for showing or sale. With appropriate herds, analysis of computerized performance data is conducted and discussed with the owner.
Diagnosis and treatment of sick or injured animals, including birthing difficulties and on-farm surgery, is provided. Timely euthanasia and on-farm necropsy examinations are provided as needed. Animals can be referred to the teaching hospital or pathology service at Cornell.
