Clinical Investigators' Day

Annual Resident Research Seminar

The College of Veterinary Medicine Clinical Investigators’ Day is a resident research symposium planned for Friday, February 28, 2025 (see below for tentative schedule).  This program offers CVM's post-DVM interns and residents an opportunity to showcase their research endeavors and provides a forum for these trainees to hone both written and oral presentation skills.  A panel of judges will score and provide awards to those giving the best presentations.  Topics cover a wide range of applied, basic, retrospective and prospective studies.

  • Trainees in any year may submit a full research abstract on an ongoing or completed project.
  • First and second year student trainees are invited to present a novel research proposal (see Call for Abstracts in right hand column).
  • Masters of Public Health or other student trainees are welcome to submit an abstract, but they are not guaranteed an oral presentation on the day.

Award Categories:

  • Best Overall Presentation ($1,500)
  • Best Scientific Research Content ($1,000)
  • Best Presentation Style ($1,000)
  • Best Research Proposal ($1,000)
  • New:    Best Collaborative/Crossover Award ($1,000).  This award will go to the presentation that best demonstrates collaborative aspects, cross-disciplinary, or broad applicability of the research.  Abstracts accepted for presentation are required to add one slide on the collaborative aspects (i.e. research that can cross over or be applicable to other disciplines or species; think about how your research benefits scientific knowledge in general).
  • New:    We are inviting department trainees (Masters, PhD, combined PhD/DVM, and post-doctoral associates) to submit abstracts for presentation at Clinical Investigators’ Day. The goal of these presentations is to showcase research that has a desired for, or already established, collaborative aspect with clinicians or diagnosticians within CVM.  Of the submitted abstracts, two will be accepted for a 10-12 minute oral presentation after the resident presentations (approximately 3 pm) and will be followed by the awards ceremony and small reception.

On behalf of the college community organizing this event, we look forward to this special day and welcome your participation.  If you have questions about the guidelines or submission requirements, please contact any one of us.
