My research focused on udder health, metabolic and reproductive disorders, and heat stress in dairy cows. It took me a long time to realize that it is not just about cows, equipment, and the environment. Often it is us. The managers, employees and vets are part of the problem. Therefore, I shifted my research interests to human resource development. Simply because human behavior in the milking parlor affects performance, animal health and wellbeing and thus sustainability of the whole farm.
