Teaching Interest

  • The Animal Body (VTMED 5100), which includes gross anatomy, histology, radiology.
  • Function and Dysfunction (VTMED 5300), that includes aspects of physiology and pathology.

Research Interest

  • Experimental orthopaedics: My current main research focus is on translational medicine of the musculoskeletal apparatus. I study the morphological changes promoted by different treatment to orthopaedics pathologies on preclinical models.
  • Veterinary education: Veterinary medical and (specifically) anatomical education is a parallel research interest, from curriculum challenges to diversity and inclusion. I also study the efficiency and acceptance by the students to different supportive methods to teach/learn veterinary anatomy/medicine.
  • Previous area of research
    • Descriptive morphology: During the first years in academia, my research endeavors were focused on descriptive morphology of different organs and systems of non-domestic mammal and avian species.
