Biography/Professional Experience
Dr. Locatelli worked as aquaculture veterinarian in Europe for most of her professional career, both for private producers and for the public national and European bodies. Her collaborations and work experiences include the Federation of European Aquaculture Producers, the Italian Ministry of Health, the European Medicines Agency, and the European Food and Safety Authority.
Dr. Locatelli participated in several research projects related to infectious diseases in farmed and ornamental fish, fish health legislation (list of notifiable disease for teleosts in the European Union), sustainability and fish welfare.
Since moving to the United States Dr. Locatelli has been cooperating with the Fish Disease Diagnostic Laboratory in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the College of Veterinary Medicine and with the Undergraduate Admission Office in the College of Agriculture and Animal Science. She is invested in teaching about fish health and educating the future generation of fish veterinarians.
