Linear Accelerator

In November 2001, the Cornell Chronicle announced the equipment purchase of a linear accelerator for Cornell's College of Veterinary Medicine. This accelerator was purchased in 2002 with $1.5 million in private donations along with $.5 million from The Science Initiative of the Kresge Foundation.

The linear accelerator, located in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, specializes in using electrons to "irradiate tumors at shallower depths while limiting the dose delivered to underlying vital organs." Further information can be found in the Fall 2002 issue of Veterinary Medicine.
