Thank you to everyone who contributed to the 2015 Pedal for Pets!
There were 94 riders who came to the event and SCAVMA was able to raise approximately $5,500 for the Patient Assistance Fund. See pics HERE.
Many of the riders were staff or faculty affiliated with Cornell University and riding right alongside were community members eager to support the cause.
Abby Pines, DVM Candidate 2017 and SCAVMA Senior Philanthropy Chair, was in charge of organizing the entire event with the help of several committees which recruited volunteers and helped with advertisements and fund raising. Several local businesses including CTB, Finger Lakes Running and Triathlon Company, EMS, Cinemapolis, and Island Health and Fitness donated items for the raffle. In addition, Purina and Merial made monetary donations directly to the Patient Assistance Fund!
Abby would like to thank everyone who helped her to put on this event, especially Rachel Pollard, the Junior Philanthropy Chair and Tyler Barnes, the Junior PR Chair, and to everyone who came out, supported us, and participated in the event!
“I rode with Pedal for Pets this year because CUHA's patient's assistance fund is an amazing resource for owners that come to Cornell with their pets' best interests in mind and heart! Not only did I want to contribute to the fund myself, but the more bikers we get on the road, the more we can spread awareness for support and donations! It was a beautiful day riding alongside the Ithaca biking community in honor of this cause. Pedal for Pets was so much fun - I'll definitely be signing up again next year!” - Deirdre Halloran, DVM Candidate 2017
