Image of Emma EhrlichBackground:

I grew up in Essen, a city in the north-west of Germany. I participated in a student exchange to Grenoble, France, during three weeks in 2006 and during my 7th year of high school I attended an American high school in Ogilvie, Minnesota and graduated from my German high school two years later. Right after graduation I started studying veterinary medicine at Tierärztliche Hochschule Hannover. I spent my third year of college in Lyon, France, and am now beginning the 8th semester of veterinary studies in Hannover.

Interests:
One of my biggest interests is sport. I love any kind of physical activity, especially running and gymnastics. Although I have always worked hard to improve myself and to do good during competitions, I have never lost the sportive spirit and having fun together with the other group members.

Furthermore I have tutored a few girls in math when I was in high school because I love teaching. I have worked as a gymnastics coach for kids aged 3 to 6 when I was 15 years old and I am planning on coaching my college gymnastics group when I come home after the Cornell Leadership program. Next to doing sports I like being creative, which is to say drawing, painting, playing the piano... I am always open for new ideas, for traveling, for any kind of spontaneous events.

Career goal:
Although I love veterinary medicine in general, I am most fascinated in neuronal processes. My goal is to do my PhD after graduation and become a professor. I would then follow a career in the research of neuronal dysfunctions and how new techniques of treatment (transplantations, laser therapy) can improve the basic treatments that have already been developed.
